My love for Outback Steakhouse runs deep. It runs so deep that I can’t imagine a world without having them in my city. My friends in the Lafayette area recently had to live in such a twilight zone.
Between August 8-15, parts of Louisiana received 7.1 trillions of gallons of rainfall which caused a historic flood in our state. Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said that the cost of the floods was an estimated $8.7 billion. More than 55,000 homes and 6,000 businesses were affected in some way by the August floods.
One of those more than 6,000 businesses was Outback Steakhouse in Lafayette. Check out the below video beginning at 3:13 mark to see the flooding at the restaurant.
They were forced to close for a short period of time, but praise be to the Bloomin’ Onion gods. They reopened Monday, October 31! Once again, visitors and residents in that area can once again enjoy tasty eats from the new and improved location at 1600 W Pinhook Rd, Lafayette, LA 70508.
Outback Steakhouse is best known for grilled steaks, the Bloomin’ Onion and a wide variety of chicken and seafood dishes, but I have to admit that my favorite dish is a salad. It’s not a frilly salad either. It’s simply the wedge salad. Simply but not simply. There is something over the top delicious about the way Outback assembles a wedge of iceberg lettuce, bacon, tomatoes, purple onions, blue cheese dressing, and out of this world balsamic glaze. There’s texture. There’s sweetness. There’s a bit of funk from the blue cheese dressing. There’s salty bacon. It’s truly nothing short of amazing. If you have not had it, go and get it! Trust me on this. This is one of those must order things above almost anything else.
Just telling you about this has now made me hungry. Are you guys hungry as well? I hope you are! In celebration of the Lafayette location reopening, Outback Steakhouse would like to treat one of my readers to a $50 gift card! How awesome is that?!

I would try the porterhouse because having that cut of steak perfectly seasoned and cooked is one of the ultimate judges of any restaurant (club sandwiches are also good judging criteria). 🙂 I haven’t been, but I’m always willing to try a new place!
