Must Eats and Drinks at Riverview Restaurant & Brewhouse

DISCLAIMER: This is a sponsored post. Although I have received compensation for this post, all views and opinions are 100% my own and the kiddo’s.

Riverview Restaurant & Brewhouse is Margaritaville Resort Casino Bossier City’s newest restaurant concept. The restaurant is located in the former Margaritaville Restaurant space and is named for the floor to ceiling views of the Red River. The idea is to provide great food and drink, classic and modern bar games, and fun nightlife all under one roof. On a recent visit to the restaurant, the only thing I could focus on was the BEAUTIFUL bar, drinks and good eats.

The bar. THE bar. THE BAR!

The main bar is 22-feet high and stocked with over 160 premium liquors and more than 30 beers on tap. Some of those premium liquors are featured on the bar’s custom beverage menu that covers fusion cocktails for morning and night. I mean, who doesn’t love a little bit of morning drinking? As for the beers, approximately 20 are brewed in Louisiana and Texas. Local favorites from Great Raft Brewing and Red River Brewing Company along with some from NOLA Brewing, Parish Brewing Company, and many others are available. Even if you’re not a drinker, you can’t help but notice the grandeur and beauty of this bar. The focal point of the room is supposed to be the hand-crafted brick oven, but for me, I couldn’t keep my eyes off the bar.

The food at Riverview Restaurant & Brewhouse is served family style and is brought out as it is prepared. There’s no waiting for all of the plates at the table to be ready. As each plate is ready, it’s brought out. This wasn’t a problem for me when I visited because the kiddo and I were sharing food, but this may be problematic if 1. You don’t like sharing your food and 2. If you’re super hungry and order something that may take longer than the person you are dining with. This isn’t a big thing, but just be mindful of it.

If you check out Riverview’s menu, it’s huge to say the least and can be a bit intimidating so I went forth and tried out some things for YOU. Not for me, but for YOU. So what do YOU need to order? I’m glad you asked!

Here is my list of must eats and drinks at Riverview Restaurant & Brewhouse:

THE DRANKS:

Root Beer

Root beer is the beverage of choice for the kiddo each time we go out so I was not surprised that he ordered it at Riverview. He has his line of questions ready always. Is your root beer served out of a bottle or fountain? Do you have free refills? After being satisfied that he could order as many root beers as he wanted, he took his first sip and he was thrilled. His words, not mine “This is the best root beer on fountain in the Shreveport and Bossier.” If you’re a fan of root beer, the kiddo says order it.

The Legend
Strawberry-basil infused vodka, sour simple syrup, lemon juice, and soda water

Our waitress told me that this was their most popular cocktail and I could see why. The balance between the sweetness of the strawberry-basil infused vodka and the sour simple syrup with lemon juice was very pleasant and the soda water provided a slight effervescence to the drink.

Prosecco and Pamplemousse* (This isn’t on the menu)
Prosecco and pamplemousse syrup

This was my hands down favorite drink. I’m a Prosecco girl and this spoke to my spirit. It was light, refreshing, and delicious.

THE EATS:

Chargrilled Oysters
Pernod tarragon butter

Talk about yummy! I’m a fan of chargrilled oysters. Have y’all seen my rants lately about them not having chargrilled oysters at Shreveport Derby Day this year? More to come on that later, BUT again I love chargrilled oysters. Cheese. No cheese. Pernod tarragon butter. No Pernod tarragon butter. It doesn’t matter to me. These had the perfect amount of Pernod tarragon butter and were absolutely delicious. They were big, juicy, and cooked to the perfect temperature. My mouth is watering now thinking about them. YUMMY!

Chicken Fried Steak
Hand battered chicken fried steak served with cream gravy, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and Texas toast

I am still on my quest for the greats of chicken fried steak and this was a tasty contender. For this dish, Riverview gives you a choice of white or brown gravy. I opted for brown and I don’t regret it at all. The chicken fried steak itself was seasoned beautifully, and fried to crispy deliciousness. This was definitely a winner and my book and I want to get the sandwich next time. YES! They serve a chicken fried steak sandwich.

Bayou Pasta
Crawfish, blackened chicken, andouille, mushrooms, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts, and cavatappi pasta tossed in a spicy cream sauce served with a French baguette

This dish was tasty to me, but the kiddo was not impressed. He said it lacked crawfish and he was under the assumption that it would actually be spicy since it was described as having a “spicy cream sauce”. Spicy it was not, tasty it was to me. Although the kiddo said he was not impressed with this dish, he cleaned his entire plate minus two forkfuls that I had. It must not have been too bad to him.

Southern Strawberry Shortcake
Homemade biscuit with marinated strawberries, and Cointreau Anglaise

I have to keep it 100% real with you all. I have been CRAVING this dessert since the day I had it. If I had to give up all desserts for the rest of my life except one, this could possibly be it. The biscuit had a crunchy exterior, with superior tender interior and the bit of salt in the biscuit paired perfectly with the marinated strawberries and Cointreau Anglaise. Cointreau Anglaise is a fancy way of saying orange liqueur custard sauce. Think crème brulee sauce with a hint of orange. Y’all! While all of these suggestions are must eats and drinks, if you don’t try anything else at Riverview Restaurant & Brewhouse, try this! When I was eating it, I SWEAR I heard the angels of heaven making melodious sounds in the restaurant.

Needless to say, after all of this I didn’t like anything on the menu! LOL! Riverview is rising above the standard blah casino food.

Have you tried Riverview Restaurant & Brewhouse
