Great Raft Brewing Launches New Beer

Great Raft Brewing is kicking 2018’s butt and taking names along the way. Today, March 1, 2018 is the first official day for the release of the brewery’s new 318 Golden Ale, a new beer brewed exclusively for and limited to the 318 area code. This new beer is Great Raft’s first new flagship since the brewery was created in 2013. It is also their first beer available in a 12-pack.

“North Louisiana is the backbone of our business. We wanted to take the opportunity brew something exclusively for the folks who have been supporting us since day one,” says Great Raft Brewing Co-Founder and President Andrew Nations.

318 Golden Ale is brewed with orange peel and locally-made Hummer & Son honey from Bossier City, Louisiana, creating a light and immensely refreshing local beer. Also with only a 4% ABV, you can put back a few without being beer drunk.

“We wanted to incorporate a local product into this beer and have enjoyed using Hummer & Son honey in the past. This beer gives us the opportunity to create something unique to our area and support local agriculture. We have been developing this beer for over six months and couldn’t be more excited to release it,” added Nations.

I had a chance to sample a prototype of the 318 Golden Ale on Krewe of Highland parade day and if the finished product is better than that, I know we are in for a treat!

Great Raft has a long list of events to kick off this exciting beer including the official 318 Launch Party today that begins at 4pm at the brewery. Bergeron’s Boudin and Cajun Meats will be serving up some tasty eats and the first 100 guests in the door will receive FREE 318 swag!

Can’t make it tonight? Visit to check out the entire lists of events.
