Brunching in the Port: Crescent City Bistro

It’s been a while since I gave y’all a Brunching in the Port post so now is the perfect time to drop a quick one off on you. If you’re new to my blog or don’t remember my last Brunching in the Port post, here you go. Marilynn’s Place is still one of the most happening brunch spots on Sundays in Shreveport and has one of my favorite bartenders in the land. *waving* Hey Althea! Even though it is one of my favorites,  I decided to venture out west for food on yesterday.

I had the pleasure of visiting Crescent City Bistro with the kiddo and some friends for the Sunday Jazz Brunch. This weekend was completely out of the control so we needed some amazing eats to get our lives back in order and Crescent City provided just that.  Unless you’ve been living under a rock or not a resident of Shreveport, you’ve probably heard about Chef Darrell Johnson and/or Crescent City Bistro by now. He was a runner up on Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen and one of the finalists for the Louisiana Food Prize Battle of the Golden Fork. With those two things alone, I think it’s safe to say that he knows what he is doing with food. IF there was any doubt left in my mind (there wasn’t) of this, brunch yesterday solidified it.

The kiddo ordered the seafood omelette which was a four egg omelette stuffed with sautéed shrimp, crawfish and crabmeat topped with a creole sauce served with a bowl of grits. I’m not sure why I didn’t take a picture of this but it was absolutely delicious! The kiddo tried to fight me because I kept sticking my fork in his plate. My friend Brandy ordered a shrimp poboy. Again I’m not sure why I didn’t take a picture. I did however get pics of my food and my friend Desiree’s.

Desiree ordered the shrimp and grits which were soooooooooooooo good. The shrimp were sautéed in a tasso cream sauce! Let’s let this sink in. Tasso. Cream. Sauce. Can you really go wrong with that?

I ordered the Bananas Foster French Toast for myself and the seafood platter “for the table”. “For the table” just means I didn’t want to appear to be a complete #FattyNotFoodie so I shared it with everyone.

Y’all this was a definite win in our books. In addition to the great food, there was a great jazz band playing. For their first go round, Crescent City Bistro did Sunday Jazz Brunch right.
