48 Hours in Denver with StayAlfred.com

In December of 2015, a group of friends and I packed our backpacks and decided to spend 24 hours in Denver. Thanks to Frontier Airlines, we were able to secure $30 round trip flights out of Dallas and embarked on an adventure of a lifetime. You can read more about it here. After that super quick and tiring trip, I decided that I wanted to go back. I wanted to spend more time in Denver. I wanted to go skiing, I wanted to eat all over the place, and more importantly, I wanted to explore the Mile High City. Fast forward to over a year later and once again, an email from Frontier caught my eye, “Why stay at home when you can fly from $20?”. Welp! That was all the information that I needed to make another trip to Denver happen. This time there were less friends involved, airfare was $38-$54 round trip, and the trip was for 48 hours, and I fell in love with a vacation rental company.

GETTING THERE

Because I’ve made this trek before, I knew the deal. We weren’t taking any checked or carry on bags. We were operating with only a personal item. Our personal items just so happened to be backpacks stuffed with clothes and other necessities for 48 hours.

We arrived at DFW airport with plenty of time to spare so we each decided that putting our bags into the airline’s measurement bins would be a great photo op. We were excited and confident that our personal items stayed within the guidelines. It wasn’t until after our pictures that I realized we were taking pictures at the Spirit bin and not the Frontier one. LOL! Leave it to us! We were still within Frontier’s limits as well.

When it was time to leave, we boarded the plane, strapped in, and enjoyed the friendly skies all the way to Denver. We had a bit of turbulence when landing in Denver and I called upon Jesus’ name several times, but overall it was a great flight. I have read all the reviews and know that some people have had issues with Frontier. I can now say that I have flown with them twice out of DFW and have never had any issues. The flights were on time, they were clean to the eye, and I’ve always lucked out with having an extra seat next to me.

WHERE TO STAY

Because this was a 48 hour trip, we needed some place to stay. After several Google searches, I found a vacation rental company that had exactly what I was looking for. Say hello to my new friends at StayAlfred.com.

Stay Alfred is the first “Nationwide Urban Vacation Rental Company”. They were founded on the idea of offering innovative, reliable, and consistent short-term vacation rentals at a price that’s affordable, while making booking, checking-in, and checking-out quick and easy. Basically Stay Alfred is what everyone needs at least once in their life.

They are truly operating by their founding ideals. The entire booking process was so simple. Once on the line with a representative, he took all of my information, and we were booked. After the phone call, I received our rental agreements via email, electronically signed them, and then received our check-in instructions for a sweet 2 bed/2 bath apartment in downtown Denver.

Check-in was super easy as well. When we arrived, we used the call box to call the Stay Alfred operator who asked for my name and unit number. Once he confirmed my information, he buzzed us in to one of the hippest, funkiest (in a good way) lobbies that I’ve seen in a while. A shuffleboard table, business center, large tvs, pool table, and kitchen filled this orange, green, and grey decorated areavacation rentals, business trip accommodations, stay alfred

When we made it to our apartment, it was nothing short of great. Like described, it was a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with washer and dryer, kitchen, dining area, balcony, closets a plenty, and a great view of the city. We completely failed at exploring Denver because the apartment was so great and relaxing. When we weren’t at a restaurant eating, we were in the apartment being lazy and watching cable tv. We even skipped going out to dinner one night and opted for delivery. Because there were three of us, each of us had our own space to chill out how we liked and we could interact with each other when we wanted. The Stay Alfred apartment gave my friends and I exactly what we needed without us even knowing it.

WHERE TO EAT

Because the apartment was centrally located in downtown, we decided to use Google to find a breakfast spot within walking distance and lucky for us, Snooze, an AM eatery, was just around the corner and down the street. I had heard a lot of good things about Snooze, so I was definitely excited to try it. It did not disappoint at all.

The food was delicious as well. We feasted on a complimentary cinnamon roll pancake that was nothing short of heaven in the form of breakfast. It had cinnamon of course, cream cheese icing, white chocolate chips, and I do believe I even tasted some love in there.

We had other dishes that were tasty, but above the great drinks and food, the service was excellent. When we were seated, the bartender came over, greeted us, and asked us each of our names. He is why we had the cinnamon roll pancake because he wanted us to try it. When our server came over, she had already gotten the scoop on us from the bartender and she greeted us by our names. We never had to wonder where she was and we never wished she would go away. She knew when and when not to come over to us. Great customer service goes a long way with me so Snooze will always get my business because of that.

For dinner one night we decided to go with Mexican. No visit to Denver is complete without visiting Adelitas. Cheap drinks on the late night happy hour and $1 tacos on Taco Tuesday are definitely the way to go. Yet again, in addition to the good food and drinks, we had great customer service. This time our server was full of personality. He had jokes, he was sassy, and he made great suggestions. I watched him as he interacted with all of his tables and he was consistent with all of us. I didn’t catch his name, but he has this awesome Panama Jack-esque mustache, curly hair, and melanin rich skin.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Two trips to Denver down, many more to come. Each time that I have visited Denver, I had an idea of what I wanted to see and do. Each time, that idea has gone out of the window and I have just gone with the flow and enjoyed every minute. The theme of the 24 hour trip was GO! GO! GO!. The theme of this 48 hour trip was REST, RECHARGE, REJUVENATE, and BOND. I feel that two of my friendships are now stronger because of this trip. I was able to stop and just enjoy being silent. I was even able to watch cable TV. THAT is a luxury! Y’all know this! Thank you Stay Alfred for giving us a space to do all of this and more. StayAlfred.com is currently available in Boston, Dallas, Denver, Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Portland, San Antonio, San Diego, Seattle, Spokane, and Washington, DC. What a fun trip!
We’ve been talking about going to Denver for several years now, specifically for a concert at Red Rocks. Now that we live in Shreveport, that will be much easier than when we lived in Alabama.
Thanks for the info on Stay Alfred! I haven’t heard of them before, but it sounds awesome!
